To Cleanse & Charge a Stone
It depends on the stone as to what method should be used. Some stones cannot be put in sunlight or submerged in water, so make sure you know what the stone prefers before attempting to cleanse it.

Bless the stone with the 4 elements. Place the stone on your Third Eye Chakra and say:
In the name of the Divine,
I conjure thee,
O stone of earth, to assist me in my magical working.
By the moon and the stars,
You may be blessed and empowered to (name intent).
So mote it be.
You don’t always have to empower them with certain properties or jobs. One saying I use frequently is “I cleanse this stone of all negative energy and prepare it for my personal use.”
